About
Every Student. Every Need. Every Story.
The Antelope Valley Unified School District serves a unique blend of 22,000 urban, suburban, and rural students in one of our eight comprehensive high schools, three alternative high schools, and an early college high school in partnership with Antelope Valley Community College. Our focus has shifted from purely academic to teaching the whole student.
An embedded socioemotional learning curriculum and increased counseling and mental health support are in place to ensure all students are safe, secure and in a healthy place to learn. There is also a significant emphasis on developing our Multi-Tier System of Support(MTSS) framework districtwide at the Tier 1 level this year.
The district also boasts thriving Career Technical Education (CTE) and Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) academics and pathways. Using the CPA model and the Linked Learning framework to engage students in learning skills for the future, approximately one-third of students are in a career-based program of study linked to and supported by our local industry sectors.
With an emphasis on post-secondary options for all graduates, we strive to produce lifelong learners prepared to succeed in our ever-changing world.
Mission
Our mission is to provide a safe and secure learning environment that promotes a rigorous curriculum that enables our students to develop the necessary academic, technical, and work-related skills of the 21st century.
Vision
Our vision is that every student who graduates will be prepared to pursue college and any career to which he or she aspires.
