Celebrate Black History Month

Black History Month: February 1st – March 1st

Hello to our AVUHSD staff, students, families, and community!

Thursday, February 1st is the beginning of Black History Month! We dedicate this month to honor, celebrate, and pay tribute to those who came before us. To those whose strength, along with astounding resilience, have paved the way and ignited change.

Every year Black History Month has followed a specific theme. This year’s theme is “African Americans and the Arts” which “explores the key influence African Americans have had in the fields of ‘visual and performing arts, literature, fashion, folklore, language, film, music, architecture, culinary and other forms of cultural expression'”.

We wish everyone a reflective Black History Month. May this month be a true representation of the unity and courageousness seen throughout history and present day.
