National Homeless Youth Awareness Month

November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month!

In October of this year, the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) Board, adopted a resolution that recognizes the month of November 2023, National Homeless Youth Awareness Month!

This recognition is a way to empower students as well as families who are experiencing homelessness through educational advocacy and support. It is an essential way to promote awareness and greater support for homeless students in schools and the community.

As of June 2023, over 58,000 homeless students have been identified across 80 public school districts and 370 plus charter schools in the Los Angeles County. 4.3% of students, or 1 out of every 20 students, are currently experiencing some form of homelessness in the LA County.
